Dean debuted in August, 2004 as Luke Morgan on McLeod's Daughters, the top-rated drama on Australian TV. Luke is an auto mechanic who moves to the area of Drover's Run to join his older brother Kane, another newcomer to the area. On the very day Luke gets a job at Terry's truck stop, he meets Jodi Fountain, and the instant attraction is mutual. Little is known of the Morgans' past, but their relationship seems strained before Kane suddenly leaves town.
McLeod's Daughters is the story of two half-sisters who inherit their father's cattle station in South Australia. Claire grew up at Drover's Run, but her sister Tess lived in the city with her mother. Brought together again after 20 years, they begin working together to make a go of the station. Tess finds an unexpected passion for Drover's Run and commits herself to joining the all-female work force to run the property. Claire's life and sense of self were completely transformed by Tess's attitude, and she realizes that life is not just about work. Drover's Run housekeeper Meg Fountain and her daughter Jodi help run the station and Claire's old friend Stevie Hall, a former rodeo rider, is station manager. The Ryan brothers, Alex and Nick, own the neighboring station Killarney and complicate the lives of the women at Drover's Run in more ways than one.
At the end of season 3, Claire McLeod was killed in a car crash, leaving her baby daughter Charlotte in Tess's care. Tess carried on at Drover's Run with new friend Kate Manfredi, a recent Agricultural College graduate. Although Meg Fountain decided to leave Drover's Run, daughter Jodi stayed behind to work with her friends to keep the station going. Near the end of season 4, Tess married Nick Ryan, leading to more changes at Drovers Run.
