TWILIGHT (1998) (YOUNG IOLAUS)

twilight      twilight      twilight

In which Hercules, Iolaus, and Jason go to war. This episode is half "present", including the death of Alcmene, and half YH.

Hercules and Iolaus rush to the home of Jason and the mortally sick Alcmene. Hercules reminisces about their first experience at war.

YH: Iolaus and Jason come to Alcmene's to recruit Hercules to join them at war. At the military camp they meet an old Academy friend who is now a healer. While they are on a reconnaissance mission, the commander is killed and another friend is severely injured. The only ones left are the three heroes, the injured man, and the healer. They spend a terrible night in a deserted trench, where the injured man dies of his wounds.

Next morning, Hercules and the healer go out into the field and rescue a wounded enemy soldier. Under pyrotechnic fire, they all must flee. Iolaus and Jason help the enemy soldier. The healer gives his life to let the others escape.

Hercules convinces Jason a king should be able to make peace as well as war. The heroes surrender to the enemy king, who finally accepts Jason's peace proposal.

In the "present," Alcmene dies, and the heroes' friendship becomes even stronger.
